Martelé and the Mastery of Sound Production

Galamian wrote that martelé is “one of the most fundamental of all strokes, and its mastery will benefit the right-hand technique well beyond the limit of this particular bowing.” In this session, we will explore the myriad possibilities the martelé stroke offers for developing a beautiful tone. From the first bow strokes to advanced repertoire, to shifting, vibrato, and set up, participants will learn about the long-lasting physical and tonal benefits of the martelé stroke.
